Communications for the Common Good℠

Helping mission-based organizations grow through intentional & memorable storytelling

Hi, I’m Mindy. Of the 1.8 million nonprofits registered in the U.S. today, how many can you name? Ten? Twenty? Fifty?

Rising above the noise is hard for any brand, and harder for small, overworked teams with fewer resources. So I started Mindy Media to help people with philanthropic passions find their storytelling voice.

My mission is to amplify environmental and social justice through intentional, memorable communications.

NICE TO MEET YOU!

Mindy Withrow talks with her hands. She has short brown hair and wears a navy and white shirt with a red necklace. Bright blue nails hint that she's more fun than "communications strategist" suggests.

  • "I trust our story to Mindy. She is creative and innovative and has a way of keeping us both focused on mission and open to new possibilities. Mindy is a fabulous think partner, from crafting key messages to building an agile strategy to carry our mission into the future."

Who I work with

  • Nonprofits

When you don't have a comms person—or they wear too many hats—I ensure your messages confidently inspire action.

  • Corporate ESG teams

I help you find and flesh out the memorable, values-aligned story angles that celebrate all the ways you're meeting your SDGs.

  • Cause-based businesses

A unique voice is a must for cause marketing to niche audiences. I help you discover that voice and proclaim it boldly and consistently.

AN ORIGIN STORY

It was about farm animals, and cleverly titled Farm Animals. The best paragraph was: “The pig eats slop. That’s stuff like banana peels or yuck mixed with juice.” Not an instant classic. But I learned that words make people feel things (in this case, revulsion, but it was a start).

I had strong feelings myself, especially about right and wrong. There’s a moment in The Simpsons (S5 E14) where Marge exclaims at her daughter: “Lisa, ordinarily I'd tell you to stand up for what you believe in, but you've been doing that an awful lot lately.” I was (ok, am) Lisa.

Combining my loves for words and justice was inevitable. It started with letters to the editor in college and turned into a communications career. Now, through Mindy Media, I guide people working for the common good in getting uncommon visibility.

I wrote my first book at age 7.

Let’s amplify your story, together.
